Growing & Changing
Some of you may already be aware that I have accepted a new job at the Vermont Mutual Insurance Co. in Montpelier, VT. On July 1st, I will become their new Software Development Manager. This is exciting for me for several reasons… first of all, I have been looking for a new job for quite a while, so finding employment makes me very happy… second, software development is something that I have dabbled in and skirted around for most of my IT career (my own company began nearly 25 years ago developing database applications) and this job will allow me to actually experience (deeply) one of the few areas of the IT world that I have not spent a huge amount of time doing… and lastly, Vermont Mutual has a great reputation as an employer, which is as important as any reason for me to be working for someone.
I am really looking forward to immersing myself into this new career and have added, appropriately, a new category of articles to this Web site. This category, called “Software Development”, will be used to occasionally pass along new and interesting tidbits of information related to my new career.
As the by-line of this site says… “share my neverending quest”… plan to come have a look often to see what interesting topic has caught my fancy lately!
Congrats!

Congrats but u should really try retirement, its not half bad! LOL
Oh I *will* retire… someday… or, probably more likely, find “something” that keeps me busy and out of “trouble”… 😉 Best to Donna for me!
Enjoy the new opportunity! I have no plans of retiring anytime soon – maybe cutting back hours in 5-6 yrs. I just wish I could find a way to stretch the day out so I can do all the activities I want to do!
