Linux Mint 14 “Nadia” Released
Yesterday seemed to have been the day of new releases. Perhaps everyone was finishing up projects before the Thanksgiving break. Anyway… the Linux Mint folks unveiled their newest release to the world. Based on Ubuntu 12.10, this new version boasts MATE 1.4 and Cinnamon 1.6 for those of you that are tired of the Unity and Gnome 3 desktops as well as Nemo, Linux Mint’s fork of the Nautilus file manager.
A couple of months a go I installed a “new-to-them” PC for my parents using Linux Mint 13. They had previously only used Windows XP. A few quick lessons and they were off and running… never to miss Windows again! I think that this speaks volumes about the innate usability of the Linux Mint operating systems. In the two months since I installed it for them the ONLY question that they have had concerned printing in Google Chrome (which they used previously)… absolutely NOTHING about the new desktop or how/where to find things… very impressive IMHO!
