U.S. Again Has the World’s Top Supercomputer
Top500 released the 40th version of its twice annual list of the world’s top supercomputers and an American computer has come out on top once again. Owned by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the new king of the heap is a Cray XK7 system called “The Titan”. “The Titan” is made up of over 560,000 processor, including over 261,000 Nvidia GPU accelerator cores. The combined power of these processors is capable of producing 17.59 Petaflops/s… 17.59 quadrillion “floating point operations” per second!
