Adobe, now ‘married’ to Microsoft
Yesterday Adobe announced that it will pair all future updates for its Flash Player software with Microsoft’s “Patch Tuesday” schedule. This does not mean that Microsoft will distribute/install these updates as a part of its Patch Tuesday updates, but it does finally mean that Adobe will be following some regular schedule for the release of updates for this popular software. Concentrating updates from multiple vendors to a single will significantly boost the possibility that these critical updates will get installed in a timely fashion, even though it does add more work to an IT staff during these patch release cycles.
Those of you that know me, also know that I have very little nice to say about the Flash software that Adobe distributes. The constant bugginess… and not just minor bugs, mind you… along with the constant barrage of updates has moved this software to the top spot of software I would like to see “disappear”. Just so you know… Microsoft’s .NET and Oracle’s JRE fill out the other top spots on that list!
